Reading Passage: A Terrible Day

Yesterday was one of the worst days I have had in years. It began when I overslept and missed an important meeting at work.  I thought I had set my alarm, but apparently I hadn't. In my rush to leave the house, I spilled coffee on my clothes and had to change again, which made me even later. When I finally got outside, I realized I had missed the bus, so I decided to take an Uber, but the traffic was completely congested, so we were stuck for a long time. As a result, I arrived at work almost an hour late. Unfortunately, my manager was not understanding and seemed quite disappointed.  "This is really unprofessional, and I had higher expectations for you," he let me know. To make matters worse, I later discovered that I had left my wallet at home, so I couldn’t buy lunch, so I walked around completely famished throughout the afternoon. By the end of the day, I felt exhausted, frustrated, and eager to go home, rest, and of course chow down on some food.  I really hope such a day doesn't happen again anytime soon.

Too much sugar

There is too much sugar in food, especially in the USA Have you eaten out lately?   If so, I am sure you have noticed the abundance of sweets that you can find here at restaurants and in stores.  American food is filled with sugar, and it's not just traditional desserts, such as ice cream, cake, donuts, pies etc.  Even things that are supposed to be healthy, such as juice or cereal are filled with sugar.  Too much sugar has the potential to cause health problems, such as diabetes and heart disease.  Here are some solutions to this problem.   The first solution is to try and encourage people to eat less sugar in their diets.   This, of course, is easier said than done.  It's very similar to telling people to stop smoking.  That is because sugar, like nicotine and caffeine, is quite addictive.  Many people are completely hooked on sweet things and can't get enough of it.  That being said, the more people tell people that they sho...
